LICENSING TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Last updated: July, 2026

The ASEAN Journal of Humanities and Multidisciplinary Studies (AJHMS) is committed to the principles of open access publishing and adheres to internationally recognized standards for scholarly accessibility, transparency, and ethical dissemination of research, consistent with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing developed by COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, and WAME.

All articles published in the journal are made immediately and permanently available online, free of charge, without subscription fees, access charges, registration requirements, or embargo periods. Readers are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, cite, link to, and share the full texts of published articles in accordance with the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license.

Open Access License

Unless otherwise specified, all articles published by AJHMS are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under this license, users may:

  • Share, copy, and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use

provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the journal, a link to the license is provided, and any modifications made are clearly indicated.

Full license terms are available at: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License

The applicable license is indicated on the full text of every published article, in both HTML and PDF formats.

Licensing Compliance

AJHMS shall not impose additional legal, financial, or technical barriers beyond those permitted under the CC BY 4.0 license. Any reuse of journal content must fully comply with the conditions and attribution requirements of the license. No registration, subscription, or payment is required to read, download, or reuse published content in accordance with the license.

Copyright

Authors retain copyright of their published work. The copyright terms applied to published articles are separate and distinct from the copyright applied to the design, layout, and non-article content of the AJHMS website. The copyright holder is named on the full text of all published articles.

Copyright is granted to the author(s) upon publication, and the journal is granted the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under CC BY 4.0 as described above. Copyright terms do not contradict or restrict the rights granted under the licensing terms of this policy.

Self-Archiving and Repository Deposit

Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit any version of their manuscript — preprint, accepted manuscript, or published Version of Record — in institutional repositories, subject repositories, or other archives of their choice, at any time, including prior to and after publication. No embargo period applies.

Archiving and Digital Preservation

To ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of published scholarship, AJHMS supports digital archiving and repository deposit practices consistent with international open access publishing standards. Published content is preserved through [institutional repository / Internet Archive / PubMed Central / Keepers Registry-listed archive — specify actual arrangement], protecting continued access to the journal’s content in the event of any future discontinuation of the journal or publisher.

Metadata and Indexing

AJHMS permits the harvesting, indexing, dissemination, and storage of article metadata by indexing services, repositories, academic databases, libraries, and search engines, in order to maximize the visibility, discoverability, citation, and scholarly impact of published works. Article metadata may be reused without restriction to support these purposes.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are solely responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and legality of the content submitted for publication. Submission to the journal signifies that the manuscript is original, has not been previously published elsewhere, is not under simultaneous consideration by another publication, and does not infringe upon any copyright, intellectual property right, or third-party interest.

Authors are likewise responsible for ensuring compliance with research ethics, applicable institutional requirements, informed consent standards, and ethical approval procedures where necessary.

Third-Party Materials

If a manuscript contains copyrighted materials, images, figures, tables, or other content owned by third parties, authors must secure all necessary permissions prior to submission and publication. Such materials remain subject to the copyright conditions imposed by their respective rights holders and are excluded from the CC BY 4.0 license applied to the rest of the article unless otherwise stated.

Policy Revisions

AJHMS reserves the right to revise or update these licensing terms and policies to maintain compliance with evolving international publishing standards, ethical guidelines, and open access principles. Any revisions shall apply prospectively and shall not alter the licensing terms granted to previously published articles.
