Open Access Policy

ASEAN Journal of Humanities and Multidisciplinary Studies (AJHMS)

Our Commitment

AJHMS is a fully open access journal. Every article we publish is made freely available online, in full, at the moment of publication, with no subscription, registration, paywall, or embargo period standing between the research and the reader. We believe that scholarship on the cultural, social, historical, and intellectual life of the ASEAN region and beyond should be available to anyone who wants to read it: researchers, students, policymakers, and the communities the research is about.

Open access, to us, is not just a distribution model. It is how we ensure that regionally grounded humanities and social science research can circulate as widely, and be built upon as freely, as possible.

License

All articles published in AJHMS are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise stated on the article itself.

Under this license, anyone may:

  • Read and download the article, free of charge
  • Copy and redistribute it in any medium or format
  • Remix, adapt, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially

The only condition is attribution, appropriate credit must be given to the author(s), a link to the license must be provided, and any changes made to the original must be indicated. The license text is available at creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0.

The licensing terms are indicated on the full text of every published article (HTML and PDF) and apply independently of, and in addition to, the copyright notice described below.

Copyright

Authors retain copyright of their published work. AJHMS does not require authors to transfer copyright to the journal or publisher. Authors publishing with us grant AJHMS the right to be the first publisher of the article, while retaining the rights to reuse, distribute, and archive their own work, including depositing it in an institutional or subject repository, with acknowledgment of its original publication in AJHMS.

The copyright holder is named on the full text of every published article.

No Author-Side Access Barriers

Readers never pay to access, download, or cite an AJHMS article. There is no subscription tier, no delayed or embargoed access, and no reader-facing fee of any kind. Every article is available in full from the day it is published, in perpetuity.

Archiving and Preservation

To safeguard the permanent availability of published research, AJHMS maintains a digital preservation plan for its content, ensuring articles remain accessible even in the event of changes to the journal’s operations.

Indexing and Discoverability

Making research accessible also means making it findable. AJHMS assigns a persistent digital object identifier (DOI) to every published article via Crossref, and works toward indexing in DOAJ and other reputable scholarly databases, so that published work can be reliably discovered, cited, and linked to from anywhere in the world.
