COPYRIGHT POLICY

Last updated: July, 2026

The ASEAN Journal of Humanities and Multidisciplinary Studies (AJHMS) is committed to maintaining ethical, transparent, and internationally recognized publishing standards. This Copyright Policy governs the ownership and management of intellectual property rights in works published in the journal. For details on how published content may be reused, shared, or adapted, please see our Licensing Terms and Conditions page.

Copyright Ownership

Authors who publish in AJHMS retain full copyright ownership of their scholarly works. Copyright is not transferred exclusively to the journal or its publisher at any stage of submission, review, or publication.

By submitting and publishing a manuscript, authors grant AJHMS a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, display, and communicate the article in all media and formats, for scholarly, educational, indexing, and promotional purposes. This license operates alongside, and does not restrict, the open access reuse rights described in our Licensing Terms and Conditions.

Publisher Rights

AJHMS retains the right to:

  • Identify itself as the original publisher of the work
  • Include published articles in journal compilations, indexing systems, databases, archives, and preservation services
  • Perform editorial formatting, copyediting, proofreading, metadata generation, DOI assignment, and digital preservation activities necessary for publication, discoverability, and long-term access

Each published article is assigned a persistent identifier (DOI) to ensure stable, long-term linking and citation, consistent with Crossref metadata and persistent-identifier standards.

Author Warranties

By submitting a manuscript, authors warrant that:

  • The submitted work is original and has not been previously published, except where properly acknowledged
  • The manuscript is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal or publisher
  • The work does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, patent, intellectual property right, or third-party interest
  • All listed authors have approved the submission and publication of the manuscript, and all persons who meet authorship criteria are appropriately credited
  • Necessary permissions have been obtained for any copyrighted material owned by third parties
  • Proper acknowledgment and citation have been provided for all referenced materials

Third-Party Content

Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission for the use of copyrighted images, figures, tables, illustrations, questionnaires, datasets, or any other third-party material included in the manuscript, where required by law or by the copyright holder’s policies. Any third-party content remains subject to the copyright conditions imposed by its original rights holder and is excluded from the open access license applied to the rest of the article, unless otherwise stated.

Corrections, Versioning, and Retraction

AJHMS is committed to preserving the integrity and reliability of the scholarly record. In cases involving significant errors, plagiarism, data falsification or fabrication, duplicate publication, or other violations of publication ethics, the journal reserves the right to issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, in accordance with COPE guidelines and internationally accepted editorial standards.

Where an article is corrected, updated, or retracted after publication:

  • The original publication is preserved and remains accessible, clearly marked with a link to the corrected or retracted version
  • Version history is maintained to ensure a transparent and traceable scholarly record
  • Retraction or correction notices are linked bidirectionally with the original article via persistent identifiers, consistent with Crossref best practices for version control

Policy Amendments

AJHMS reserves the right to revise or amend this Copyright Policy to ensure continued compliance with international open access publishing standards, ethical publishing practices, copyright regulations, and DOAJ requirements. Any amendments shall apply prospectively and shall not retroactively alter the rights granted to previously published articles.
